Directions from Pickering’s Farmland Enslaved Burials to Site 4:
- Continue driving north on N Valley Pike (US-11)
- In 1.8 mile destination is on your left at the intersection of N Valley Pike and Akron Rd
- These churches are no longer standing
This area is the site of two Quaker churches. The Smith Creek Church was built in 1738 on the plot for a cemetery and closed in 1772. The Old Bethlehem Stone Church was built in 1844. Both churches taught enslaved African Americans in the surrounding area and are remembered by the formerly enslaved who attended.
