An African American history tour of Frederick County of the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. This self-driving tour features historic African American sites such as schools, churches, neighborhoods, cemeteries, and businesses and more. The tour starts at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Middletown and ends at the Sarah Brown House in Winchester, covering a total of 8 sites. Some sites are no longer standing but their documentation is important. Other sites are still active and we have included information if you desire to support them with a donation.
